"Nine tails to the Inaridou"
"One evening I mentioned to Inari how lucky she was to have come to live with our family. She had lived with our family for some time now. Inari is a Shiba Inu and belongs to an ancient Japanese dog breed. Japanese describe this breed with three terms 悍威 kan'i (well-balanced, courageous and self-confident), 良性 ryōsei (loyal, good natured and strong consciousness) and finally 素朴 soboku (natural beauty which shines from good-humour and artlessness). With "Soboku" the Shiba sets his hook into the owners heart.

All these characteristics combine to make the personality of a Shiba, which only a Shiba owner can describe as, irresistible. With squinty eyes, airplaned ears, and a vibrating tail you can easily see the alertness a Shiba is known for. A Shiba is "charm" standing in your lap, washing your ears, and "dignity" plus "refinement" born of the knowledge of superiority. A Shiba is like dog royalty. They want their subjects close enough to serve them but not too close as to sully his royal person. And I was just going to find out, that I was dealing with a fox goddess
As I had told my belief to Inari, she started immediately to laugh. Her ears went flat and along her skull and her mouth extended to a broad grin. It almost looked as though in the next second she would start to hold her belly with both paws, like some humans do as they are laughing so much that they bellies start to hurt.
Do you really think its that way, as you believe? Has it never crossed your mind that things could be the other way around? That I chose you? And that you are the one who is privileged to live with me?
She looked at me as if to challenge me with her head a little bit to the side and the eyes very narrow.
Yes, I thought I choose to have a dog. I was especially happy to get you, but now you tell me, that I did not get the idea myself?
Yes indeed. I chose to live with you. In fact the ancient Kami´s chose you to be my family. Would you like to hear the whole story?
